vrchat avatars

vrchat title go back

I've been in VRChat for a while, because of that I've went through a few types of avatars and bases. It took a while but I've finally landed on something I'm happy with: A masculine avatar using the avatar base of "Minase", you can read me talking more about this in the "the masc era" section. Regardless, I'll be chatting about all my past and present avatars here.

the robot era

I started my VRChat journey using robot avatars, the first being...

the fem era

I started trying out fem avatars after a suggestion from my best pal. At the time, I was trying out male avatars and experimenting with how I wanted them to look. I remember being suggested to try out a proper female base after wearing a public female base and not feeling weirded out by it, instead liking how it looked. I'd been suggested to use the "Moe" base due to my best pal also using that base.

Moe

Moe was the first proper female base I used and customized, using it as my main avatar for around five months or so.

Manuka

Manuka didn't last long, I wore this base for around a month or so. I switched to it due to my best pal switching to it and we both liked the idea of being portrayed as siblings, but the base didn't last long due to me not liking it much and my best pal switching out of it.

Selestia

Selestia lasted longer than Manuka, I wore this base for a couple months before finally and permanently switching to a masculine base. My best pal also changed to this one, we kept the sibling vibe going with the same avatar base and color scheme (She was pink, I was blue). After a short while of wearing Selestia, I decided to try out male bases again, this was when I switched to Mianse.

VRoid

My first masculine avatar was made in VRoid and edited to my liking. The original base was very basic and served more as a test for how I felt going from a robot to a male avatar, but after liking the experience I edited the avatar extensively to my liking. I added some custom hair, a robot arm, custom clothing that had to be manually weight painted to the base, and some re-texture work on the skin.

Anri

Anri was the first proper male base I used that had a lot of clothing options already online. I was experimenting with different styles at this time, moving towards a "cute" look with how the avatar was edited. I went for a baggy look, I'm big into baggy fits IRL, alongside some animal ears. It was at this point I realized that I don't really like looking "cute".

Minase

Minase is the male base I've stuck with for the longest and the one I feel the most comfortable in. I've solidified the style I'm most comfortable in and even found a signature and unique look with the droopy glasses. I think I'm going to stick with this base for the forseeable future, creating different outfits for it as time goes on.
